Introduction

*333.Builders was created with the idea of becoming a decentralized organization since day 1.

Such a vision necessarily results in managing processes, people and capital via the characteristic principles of a DAO, which are: collaboration, democratization and meritocracy.

The pyramidal hierarchy model, which permeated the industrial era and which we all now recognize to be the standard coordination framework for both resources and people, is showing its inefficiencies, being unable to respond to the needs of people living in an increasingly digital and ever-changing world.*

*In the coming decades, we will see a gradual shift from the current hierarchical structure, frozen within defined boundaries, towards the DAO model, which is a different way to manage both capital and people. A DAO is indeed open, collaborative, horizontal, it does not only provide space for the individual to grow according to his/her needs, but it is also capable of aligning the interests of different participants toward the same, shared goal. Such a lack of hierarchy and fixed models moreover, does not mean lack of leadership or organization; quite the contrary.

In a community like 333.Builders, leaders have a fundamental role. Leadership in a DAO is "fluid" or "liquid", since the models via which the DAO achieves its goals are well-defined projects or tasks. Leaders form groups working on specific tasks, according to the expertise needed, while coordinating and supervising the contribute given by individual builders. Once the task is completed, the work-group has fulfilled its objective and is dissolved. The builders are now free to join other groups or tasks, while the leader will collect outputs and manage the workforce, taking in regard the priorities and the end-goal of the DAO.*

Organizational structure

The DAO is structured according to three macro-entities: Guilds, Departments and Core Teams. To date there are 5 Guilds and 4 Departments.

The outcome produced by 333.Builders is the result of the synergistic work of these entities, the ratios of which can be represented in matrix form given by the intersection between the specialized and vertical activities of the Guilds (columns), versus the cross-cutting activities carried out by the Departments (rows).
